A Mission for Suistanable Agriculture and Rural Development

Message from Founder

It gives us immense pleasure to share the 25 Years glorious story of KVGPS which involves committed efforts from our organization and rural communities for the betterment of the larger society. During our journey of more than two decades, KVGPS has continually worked with rural farm and nonfarm-based communities in Vidarbha region. Working in the most challenging region of Maharashtra, KVGPS gradually learned to fight with challenges such as lack of financial support, barely sufficient human resources and infrastructure, and erratic weather affecting livelihood security and economic progress in the region. Despite all this, KVGPS endorsed the spirit of cooperation and human trust in its approach in the deprived region of Vidarbha and expanding its development work with positive forcein rest of Maharashtra and some parts of Madhya Pradesh.

The human capital which we have gathered in our journey has exceled by translating the applied humanist philosophy of agricultural communities. In the present state of transformation in India, we continue to strive for participatory and sustainable development in the region. We have taken up the task of improving rural infrastructure, rural human resources, and diversification of rural livelihoods to restore a more sustainable pattern of development in the region. We celebrate and strive for a just human development pattern.

Krushi Vikas Va Gramin Parashikshan Sanstha (KVGPS) started as a village-based small scale grassroots level organization working for development of Rural farming communities and landless laborers in 1991.

I must share that the work of KVGPS has been rewarded by World CSR Congress by Offering “WORLD WATER LEADERSHIP AWARD” in 2015. Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium has also appointed us as a “Resource Institution and Professional Consultancy Firm” for Maharashtra. Another achievement of KVGPS which makes us feel proud is appointment as a “Knowledge Resource Center” in Swacha Bharat Mission and appointment as a “Training Provider” for Maharashtra State by Agriculture Skill Council of India and Apparel Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council for implementation of “Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana”.

Award of “Transparency and Public Accountability Certificate” for the year 2015 and Award of “Intermediate Level- Guide Star India Transparency Badge" for the year 2016 by Guide star India is also a great achievement. As a part of National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM), We have been involved in implementing Digital Literacy Program in Wagholi, Pune with the help of SEARS Holdings India Ltd and NASSCOM Foundation is the technical partner of KVGPS in this program.

With support of Tribal Development Department, Maharashtra we started working for mobilization of small and marginal tribal farmers in FPO through a Pilot project of “Integrated Tribal Livelihood Promotion through Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)” in Chandrapur and Yawatmal Districts. Apart from this Small Farmers Agri Business Consortium New Delhi (SFAC) has also supported such initiative under NFSM. KVGPS’ efforts have led it emerge as the most trusted source of promotion and strengthening of Farmer Producer Companies in Maharashtra.

This year is a period of transition for KVGPS as we have moved into more concrete activities on rural development and agricultural growth which has been the top most agenda of KVGPS. We have initiated new program with Dept of Minor Irrigation after successful completion of APEX NGO Program and Participatory Agriculture and Irrigation Development Program in 2015; which have shown a new way for rejuvenating around 65000+ underperforming minor irrigation structures in Maharashtra.

We are happy to get associated with HDFC BANK CSR during this year. The Bank is supporting for undertaking soil water conservation measures in 10 villages with acute water shortage in Bodwad Block of Jalgaon District.KVGPS has also started implementing a project on “ Climate Smart Village Program” in Gadchiroli district with Borlaug Institute of South Asia.”

Our call goes to those generous minds to contribute in all possible manners with their expertise and resources for the mission of KVGPS. We thank all partners and beneficiaries for their willingness to change and cooperate by participating in the collective mission of sustainable development.

Together we have made and will make a lasting impact towards the betterment of the rural development.

Thank you.
Diliprao Naphade,
Chairperson (KVGPS)
